Come join us for the DMF Dance Workshop,
where the art of movement meets mental well-being.
Founded by Jeanette and Ava Cota, our event unites top-tier dance educators with exceptional mental health professionals for a transformative weekend of love, acceptance, and support. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to explore the intersection of dance and mental wellness while supporting a great cause, the Devon Michael Foundation.
Established in 2022 by Jeanette Cota and Ava Michelle Cota, the Devon Michael Foundation arose from personal tragedy—the loss of their beloved son and brother to accidental Fentanyl poisoning in 2021. In the face of a staggering statistic—300 lives claimed daily by Fentanyl-related incidents, now the leading cause of death in the U.S.—the Devon Michael Foundation is on a mission to drive this number down to zero. Through dedicated efforts, we aim to raise awareness about the Fentanyl crisis, advocate for mental health, and provide direct support to individuals seeking treatment.
Where does DANCE come in?
The dance industry, too often overshadowed by physical skill, is long overdue for a paradigm shift towards acknowledging mental health. Dance is not just a physical endeavor; it is equally a mental one. Yet, without proper support for our minds, our growth potential remains limited.
Enter the DMF Dance Workshop—an oasis of support, love, and nonjudgmental understanding. Here, dancers will find more than just choreography; they will discover a sanctuary where mental health classes offer solace and practical tools for navigating life's challenges. Our goal is simple: to reassure dancers that they are not alone in their struggles and to equip them with lifelong coping mechanisms.
Join us as we embark on this transformative journey—together, we can foster a dance community where mental well-being is celebrated and nurtured.
